Phan Thiet
Vietnamese: Phan Thiết
Phan Thiết town is the capital of Bình Thuận Province, in southeastern Vietnam. Phan Thiet is a municipality in central, south central sector, however, the development plan to 2025, it would be municipality Southeast Vietnam.
There are several hypotheses about the name of Phan Thiết and most accept that, "Phan Thiết" is not a pure Vietnamese name:
- When no settlement of Vietnamese people, Cham people call this land is "Hamu Lithit" - "Hamu" field by the neighbors, "Lithit" is near the sea. When start with the Vietnamese people settlers, who still intends to put right this land a new name in Vietnamese. Long gradual, negative end "Lithit" is associated with negative "Phan" separated from the transliteration of the name Phan Rang, Phan Ri, which secrete into the (name of the old days) and later known standards with the named Phan Thiết.
- Vietnamese people have been recording session invoking the name of Cham history: Mang-lang (Phan Rang), Mang-lý (Phan Ri), Mang-thit (Phan Thiết). Three places are referred to as "Tam Phan".
- Po Thit (brother of the princess), Prince Po Inu Sah, son of King Par Ra Cham Chanh, Trà Chanh) closed town of this land in 14th century, the Vietnamese people read into that camp out of Phan Thiết
